HLL Lifecare Ltd is a 100% Government of India owned entity was incorporated in 1966 for the production of male contraceptive sheaths and commenced operations in 1969. Later it ventured into key products which include blood bags, rapid test kits and Japanese Encephalitis vaccine apart from the traditional contraceptives.

HLL also has subsidiaries operating in the healthcare and related industries such as HLL Biotech Limited(100% subsidiary) which is setting up an Integrated Vaccine Complex in Tamil Nadu, Goa Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Ltd (GAPL, 74% subsidiary) operating in the pharmaceutical market, LifeSpring Hospitals (P) Ltd.
