Reliance Life Sciences is a diversified and integrated biotechnology driven life science initiative of the promoters of Reliance Industries Ltd RLS was incorporated in 2001 to develop business opportunities in the medical, plant and industrial biotechnology sectors. RLS is involved in domains such as biopharmaceuticals (plasma proteins, bio-similars, novel proteins), pharmaceuticals (active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and formulations ), clinical research services, regenerative medicine (stem cell therapies, tissue engineered products), molecular medicine (DNA-based diagnostics, molecular genetics, predictive diagnostics) and novel therapeutics R&D (siRNA molecules, fusion proteins and monoclonal antibodies). Biopharmaceutical segment accounted for around 70-80% of total revenue in the last three years.
The main campus of RLS is located at the Dhirubhai Ambani Life Sciences Center (DALC) in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. Clinical research services are provided out of DALC and at a facility in Bangalore, Karnataka. By virtue of being a part of the Reliance group, RLS, while independent in its day-to-day operations, also gets financial and managerial support from various group companies and thus enjoys considerable financial flexibility.
