About the Company :

Serum Institute of India Ltd incorporated in 1966 and promoted by the Poonawalla group was formed to manufacture life-saving immuno- biologicals, which were in short supply in India and were imported at high prices. It was reconstituted into a Private Limited Company in May 1984. SIIL has established itself as the World’s largest producer of measles and DTP (Diptheria, Tetanus and Pertussis vaccine) group of vaccines.

SIIL offers preventive and curative medicines primarily in the form of bacterial and viral vaccines across various therapeutic segments viz. Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), Rabies, Hepatitis B, Haemophilus Influenza Type B (HiB) and DTP, amongst others. The company has established itself as one of the leading producer of MMR and DTP group of vaccines. SIIL products have a global reach and are being supplied to around 140 countries.

The company has its manufacturing facilities at Hadapsar near Pune (Maharashtra) and the same complies with the regulatory standards of United States Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) and World Health Organization (WHO).

In September 2019, the company has inaugurated its new plant in Pune, designed to produce up to 500 million doses of vaccines in a year over the next three years. The facility spread over 2 million square feet, is the world’s largest multifunctional product facility which is in compliance with the vaccine manufacturing regulations of American and European markets. This facility would export to about 150 countries and will help increase the company’s market share by 10-15% internationally
